Phillip Smith Assumes Role as McLin Burnsed Managing Partner

McLin Burnsed is proud to announce the election of Phillip S. Smith as the firm’s Managing Partner. With McLin Burnsed since 1994 and a partner since 1998, Mr. Smith has focused on some of the most challenging areas of legal practice, including complex civil, commercial and power industry litigation, tackling an array of challenges from large class action suits commercial contract disputes to utility company litigation. In addition to such high-power experience, Mr. Smith is also a Certified Circuit Civil Mediator, enabling him to reach fair and reasonable meeting points for clients who wish to avoid the courtroom. His wide-ranging talents and experience made Mr. Smith a logical and easy choice for the firm’s Board of Directors when tasked with electing a qualified attorney to the Managing Partner position.

As Managing Partner, Mr. Smith will oversee the ongoing missions of the firm, including captaining expansion and exploration into new territories and specializations, and creating strategies for long-term planning and growth. His previous occupation as a Certified Public Accountant gives Mr. Smith additional acumen in directing McLin Burnsed’s day-to-day operations, including supervising general policies, business strategies and attorney development, monitoring the results of implemented plans, and consulting with partners to achieve the most rewarding results for the firm and its clients now and going forward. “I’m committed to taking the firm in a dynamic and aggressive trajectory that will support our clients through every legal action and service, no matter how ambitious or complex,” says Phillip Smith. “The McLin Burnsed name must evoke strength, reliability and total satisfaction to our many valued clients.”


Mr. Smith is a member of the Florida, American and Lake County Bar Associations, and of the Executive Committee of the Florida Law Network. He assumed his post as Managing Partner in February of 2019.
