Steven M. Roy was born on May 16, 1952 in Concord, New Hampshire. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1991 after graduating, with honors, from the University of Florida College of Law. While at law school Steve Roy earned several Book Awards and upon graduation was awarded the Order of the Coif for academic excellence.
 
Before making the decision to enter law school to earn his Juris Doctorate, Steve Roy was a contributing member of the financial business community. Following his graduation from Stetson University in 1975 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Steve Roy had a successful career in commercial banking, including serving as the President and CEO of Kingsley/Florida National Bank of Clay County from 1985 through 1988. As a result of his combined legal and financial experience, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Citizen's First Bank. Steve Roy joined the Firm in May, 1991 and was made a partner in November, 1993.
 
Steve Roy's legal career has focused on real estate development, utility development, tax-exempt financing, and complex commercial transactions. Practicing out of the Lake Sumter Landing office, he has been general counsel for The Villages of Lake-Sumter, Inc. for over 10 years.  Florida Trend Magazine places The Villages 35th in the “Top 200 Private Florida Companies.”  Builder Magazine ranks The Villages 19th in the its list of the “Nations Top 100 Large Homebuilders.”
