A native of Mississippi, Thomas Reed received B.A. and M.S. degrees from The University of Tennessee, where he was a member of the sailing team. Later, as a graduate student and teaching assistant in the Philosophy Department, he was faculty advisor and coach.

Mr. Reed entered law school at Stetson University College of Law in 1977 and received his Juris Doctorate degree cum laude in 1980. Since then, he has practiced law in Florida and is also licensed to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Tax Court. In addition, Mr. Reed is an American Bankers Association ICB Certified Trust and Financial Advisor.

Mr. Reed joined McLin & Burnsed, P.A., in 2007, and his practice includes estate planning, estate and trust administration and litigation, asset protection planning, and elder law. He is a member of the Wills, Trusts & Estates section of the American Bar Association, the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law section of the Florida Bar
Association, and is Treasurer of the Marion County Estate Planning Council for 2007-2008.

Mr. Reed served as a military voice communications analyst with the U.S. Naval Security Group from 1967 through 1970.

Tom and his wife, Els, married 35 years, have two grown children and two grandchildren. In addition to sailing, he enjoys hiking, birding, and fly fishing.
