John Metcalf was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 3, 1962. After completing six years of military service in the U.S. Navy, he attended the University of Houston-Clear Lake where he was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and earned his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy in 1993. John Metcalf began his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant (Arthur Anderson LLP., Ernst & Young LLP.) and is a CPA in both Texas and North Carolina.

Returning to Florida in 2001, John Metcalf attended the University of Florida College of Law where he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta and earned his Juris Doctorate in May, 2004. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in September of that same year. Additionally, John Metcalf is a member of the American Bar Association, the Lake County Bar Association and the Lake-Sumter Inns of Court. He donates his time to the Deaf & Hearing Services of Lake & Sumter Counties.

John Metcalf assists Firm partner Phillip Smith in handling complex civil commercial litigation and is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a County Court Mediator (2004).
